Diet of a champion

Not much went on today. Darrell surprised me by calling me earlier...about the time I woke up, actually (1:00...shush you, I was recuperating...), and wanted to know if we might be able to do something later on. From there, I dragged myself to the computer and visited various places, checking out what April Fool's jokes were going around the internet, by reading friends' journals (thanks, Jeff! :D ), and talked to a few people. And...to be honest with you folks, I'm not much of a fan of "April Fools" anymore...at least, on the internet. I visited a few sites today I normally go to, and was shocked to see the ugly "domain for saelz0rz!" page. And with some of this stuff...dude...that's just not funny (...though I have to admit the "Homestar Runner" parody was humorous...! XD ).

4:30 finally came, I went to work, and things progressed okay. There was a song going through my head while I was working, though...."Hero" by Superchick. Ever since I got the idea for a video involving the song, and I realized I knew most of the lyrics...it just got lodged right there in my mind. So, in order to cure this...what else am I supposed to do, except to phone up the radio station, and request it?

89.7, Shine.fm, is the radio station you should check out, okay?! I listen to it every day while delivering pizzas! ^_^

Doot, doot, doot, doot, doot.... "Shine.fm!" "Yeah, I was wondering if you could play "Hero" by Superchick...?" Johnny Rock and I held a brief exchange of words, in it he got my name (Mikey), and asked me if I "liked it". ...grrrrrr....

After I hung up, I took my pizza out to the car and drove off...but as I did, the previous song ended, and suddenly I heard myself talking on the radio with DJ Johnny Rock. I then balled my fists up and shook violently making an "Eeeeeeeeeeeee~!!" sound as my song started up, and I ignored the fact I sounded like a dork on the radio. And they didn't play the normal "Hero", either...they played the harsher "Red Pill" mix, to my surprise...and what's even more unsettling to me is that at the end, there's an extra verse, and in that it mentions "little Mikey D was the kid in class who every day got brutally harrassed"...weird, friggin' stuff, man...!

If you haven't heard "Hero", these are the lyrics...just in case you were curious.

No one sits by him, he doesn't fit in.
But we feel like we do when we make fun of him.
Do you go along, though it is wrong,
'cause his pain is the price paid for you to belong.
It's not like you hate him or want him to die,
but maybe he goes home and thinks suicide.
Or he comes back to school with a gun at his side,
and a kindness from you could have saved his life....
Heroes are made when you make a choice....

You could be a hero, heroes do what is right.
You could be a hero, you could save a life.
You could be a hero, you could join the fight,
For what's right, for what's right, for what's right....

No one talks to her, she feels so alone.
She's in too much pain to survive on her own.
The pain she can't handle overflows to a knife,
she writes on her arm wants to give up her life.
Each day she goes on is the day that she's brave,
fighting the lie giving up is the way.
Each moment of courage, her own life she saves.
When she throws the pills out, a hero is made.
Heroes are made when you make a choice....

You could be a hero, heroes do what is right.
You could be a hero, you could save a life.
You could be a hero, you could join the fight,
For what's right, for what's right, for what's right....

No one talks to him about how he lives.
He thinks the choices he makes are just his.
Doesn't know he's a leader with the way he behaves,
and others will follow the choices he's made.
He lives on the edge, he's old enough to decide.
The brother who wants to be him is just 9.
He can do what he wants, because it's his right.
The choices he makes change a nine year-old's life.
Heroes are made when you make a choice....

You could be a hero, heroes do what is right.
You could be a hero, you could save a life.
You could be a hero, you could join the fight,
For what's right, for what's right, for what's right....

If you haven't listened to it yet, go to your nearest music store or filesharing equipment, and listen/download that song by Superchick, and listen. It's honestly something that anybody who has a soul should listen to.

After work, I tried getting a hold of Darrell. He wasn't in, and I haven't heard back from him since. I'm not sure where he is, but tomorrow I'm sure we'll meet up to go up to Inman's to see the crowd. Dillon also got a hold of me when I got home from work. As it turns out, the lease on his place in Valpo had run out, and he decided to check out a place here in Portage closer to church and his work. And the thing is...he's now only two or three minutes away...mere streets away! It's awesome!! XD I look forward to seeing him more, hopefully. Poor dude's been under a lot of stress lately with having to be in Chicago a lot for work, as well as tending to the church.

For the past day or two, my eating habits have dilapidated. Last night when I got in, we didn't have any dinner already made, so I just made my way back to the computer and plopped down. After awhile, I realized the bag near the chair I put some days earlier, containing therein marshmallow peeps, Cadbury cream eggs, and varieties of flavored pop, per grace of Darrell. w00t!! Sugar, sugar, Mountain Dew Livewire, and such. Today, I had a small bowl of beef stroganoff, then on the way to work polishing off a small box of peeps, and for dinner after getting back a bowl of something of Uncle Ben's, more Cadbury cream eggs, and Frosted Mini Wheats in chocolate milk. I should put a patent on this stuff...! XD

I was actually surprised to see that the peeps don't have as outlandish ingredients as some out there would have been lead to believe. Apparently they only contain sugar, corn syrup, gelatin, which contains less than 0.5% of the following ingredients: potassium sorbate (which's a preservative), artificial flavors, red #3, and carnauba wax. Where are the things I can't even pronounce...?

Anyways, tomorrow begins Friday. And, until not long ago, I realized April has already begun too. Instead of putting "3" as the month, I now need to write "4". April showers have always brought May flowers...but since when did April showers take place in March? And when's it going to warm up and stay that way for awhile?!
